1997 Ford Expedition
The 1997 Ford Expedition is the second Expedition model released by Ford. It
is a hybrid of Ford’s other successful models, the F150 and the Explorer, sharing
not only physical attributes but mechanical features as well. Depending on the
customers choice of the seating options, the expedition can seat from 5 to 9 people.
All seats are well-padded and upholstered using the best leather or fabric making
it very comfortable to passengers.
This line comes in two trims, the XLT and the Eddie Bauer. Both sports the best
features, even the less pricey XLT is equipped with full carpeting, color-keyed
door and dash panels, power windows, mirrors and door locks, air conditioning,
a tilt steering wheel. First- and second-row occupants get separate heat/vent/air
conditioning controls, with a set for the third seat optional.

If you were intrigued by the Expedition because of its huge and curvaceous exterior,
its inside is yet another feast for the eyes. A curved dashboard displays instruments
and controls with an arms reach that may be augmented by a large center console
for extra storage or serve as an armrest for front row passengers.
The Eddie Bauer's roof console has a digital display of the driver's choice of
date/time, average fuel economy or compass, plus a switch for the power swing-out
rear quarter windows. The 1997 Expedition has two types of compatible V8 engines
available, the 4.6 liter and the 5.4 liter engine. Both engines share the same
basic structure--a cast-iron cylinder block with aluminum single overhead cam
cylinder heads—they differ only in capacity and power output.
